Dan's Page

My life has truly been incredible up to this point, to be honest. So many forces have shaped me into who I am today. One of the main forces I think is my relationship with Christ, which has influenced many of my choices and decisions. Accepting Christ has changed my life and way of thinking in such a tremendous way, allowing me to experience grace and also letting me see people in a different light. Tied into that is my church youth group, which is a support system that has picked me up when I've been down and has helped me in strengthening my relationship with Christ. My family is also a support system for me, as my mother and father have instilled some of the core values of which I hold today. Them and my sister's positive outlook on the future has rubbed off on me, no doubt. Another force of influence on my life has been my relationship with my girlfriend. I've learned quite a lot about caring for another person and I've also discovered more of who I really am on the inside. She has definitely shaped who I am today, along with my friends of whom I have shared many great times with. I mean, when you spend almost all of your extra-curricular activities with one group of people, they're bound to have an effect on you. My sense of humor and ability to just share good times with each other has been shaped due to friends. Jazz music has been another force in my life, especially in the past couple of years. The skills that go with jazz I've learned can be applied to life, especially the ability to improvise on any given occasion. Just music in general really has been my escape in life, the place I go to to think and relax and enjoy life. Music has relieved stress many times in my life. Running has been such an influence on my life. It is another one of those escapes for me, as well as an activity that challenges my mental toughness and my heart. I can safely say that running has given me just an all around more positive attitude. Pittsburgh sports, especially the Pirates, has been something that has shaped me, though it may sound a little silly. But seriously, being able to root for a team I love has helped me to root for other people in my life and overcome personal obstacles. One lasting force that will shape my life for years to come is my experience at Central York High School. Through it all, the situations, people, problems, excitement, laughs, knowledge, have and will continue to positively impact my attitude towards others and towards life.

Dan,

I didn't even consider using the high school as a force, but now wish I had thought to use it. I completely agree with how everything we endure in the high school on a daily basis: people, problems, situations, etc. shapes us. I also liked that you used jazz music as one of your forces, because it was interesting to read about how music affects you and how much you truly enjoy it.
